ABOUT
WOJCIECH GRUDZIŃSKI is a Polish choreographer, dancer and performance artist working between Warsaw and Amsterdam. His practice moves between contemporary choreography and visual culture, with a focus on the body, memory, identity and desire. His work connects cultural histories with personal experience and collective memory, combining elements of classical ballet, contemporary dance, popular culture and theatricality.
He graduated from the Roman Turczynowicz State Ballet School in Warsaw and CODARTS Rotterdam Dance Academy. In 2023, he completed his master's degree at DAS Theatre, Amsterdam University of the Arts.
Grudziński has developed an independent choreographic practice since 2016. His early works include SLAVE4YOU (2016), PAX (2017), POPULUXE (2018), presented at the Polish Dance Platform in 2019, and RODOS (2019), which was included in Polityka magazine's selection of the ten best theatre productions of the year. In 2021, he created DANCE MOM, a performance developed in collaboration with his mother, exploring kinship, intimacy and intergenerational relationships.
His more recent works include BOW: A STUDY (2023), THREESOME (2024) and CUTE & AWKWARD (2025). Through these productions, he continues to investigate the politics of the performing body, questions of visibility, power, intimacy and the cultural codes embedded in movement.
His work has been presented internationally at festivals and institutions including Santarcangelo Festival, ImPulsTanz Vienna, Fierce Festival Birmingham, Artdanthé and the Centre national de la danse in France, as well as Nowy Teatr in Warsaw and Frascati in Amsterdam.
In 2025, Grudziński received the prestigious Paszport Polityki Award in the Stage (Scena) category, becoming the first choreographer to receive the award in this category.
He has collaborated with numerous artists and institutions, including Dries Verhoeven, Marta Ziółek, Ula Sickle, Katarzyna Kalwat and Hana Umeda. His artistic development has been supported by scholarships from the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the City of Warsaw and Dutch cultural foundations. He has also participated in international research programmes and artistic residencies, including Movement Research at Judson Church in New York (2018), Cité internationale des arts in Paris (2024) and CounterPulse in San Francisco (2024).

Ukończył Ogólnokształcącą Szkołę Baletową im. Romana Turczynowicza w Warszawie oraz CODARTS Rotterdam Dance Academy w Holandii. W 2023 roku uzyskał tytuł magistra na kierunku DAS Theatre w Amsterdam University of the Arts.
Od 2016 roku rozwija autorską praktykę choreograficzną. Do jego wcześniejszych prac należą SLAVE4YOU (2016), PAX (2017), POPULUXE (2018), prezentowany podczas Polskiej Platformy Tańca w 2019 roku, oraz RODOS (2019), który znalazł się w zestawieniu dziesięciu najlepszych spektakli teatralnych roku według tygodnika „Polityka”. W 2021 roku stworzył DANCE MOM, spektakl zrealizowany wspólnie z własną matką, poświęcony relacjom rodzinnym, bliskości i więziom międzypokoleniowym.
Jego najnowsze prace to BOW: A STUDY (2023), THREESOME (2024) oraz CUTE & AWKWARD (2025). W tych spektaklach podejmuje kwestie polityczności ciała performującego, widzialności, władzy, intymności oraz kodów kulturowych zapisanych w ruchu.
